Amanda and Kevin were married on April 6, 2013 at Roche Harbor Resort on San Juan Island, WA.

This lovely couple met when they were both stationed in Korea for the military and to pay homage to their service, they had lots of special touches of the military represented like Kevin wearing his dress blues, having their their wedding colors be red and yellow (the color for the Marines),  and a fallen comrade table to honor those in the military that are no longer with us.

They chose Roche Harbor as this is a place that Kevin had visited when he was a kid and since many guests were traveling already for the wedding, they thought it would be wonderful to have it be a destination wedding in a beautiful Washington location. We were excited to be here as Roche Harbor continues to be our favorite place to photograph a wedding! This was also our first wedding of 2013 so we were extra excited to be with Amanda and Kevin!

Being the beginning of spring, the gardens were just starting to bloom and we took advantage of the gorgeous cherry blossoms around the property. We had such a great time with them and their wedding party as we photographed all around Roche Harbor Resort. We even did some more stylized interior shots in the historic hotel where on the third floor there is a map of the world and Amanda and Kevin pointed out to us where they met. :-)

Amanda is from Wisconsin and most of her friends and family came from there and we learned what being from Wisconsin is about from how friendly they are to how they can party! The reception was filled with craziness, Amanda even serenaded everyone later in the evening. And the fun didn’t stop when the music ended…nope…Amanda and her maid of honor thought it would be fun to jump in the water at 11 at night. Well we didn’t want this idea to go un-photographed, so we took them over to the beach and in the water they went in her wedding dress! It will be quite the memory she will never forget and neither will we!

We enjoyed being a part of their day and capturing all of the beautiful, romantic, silly and crazy moments of their day. Check out their mini story here and enjoy!

It was a beautiful summer day for Jenn and Keith’s wedding on August 27, 2011. Their ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful Rock Creek Gardens in Puyallup. But before we got to the venue, we had a fun day shooting all around Tacoma.

We started the day at the Hotel Murano where everyone got ready and we orchestrated Jenn and Keith’s first look. We then started the fun with the wedding party photographing with the outside hotel artwork as our backdrop. They wanted a fun urban feel for their wedding party images to contrast the garden wedding, so we headed over to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, which has some fantastic backdrops. When we got there a one-man band was playing and the wedding party couldn’t resist showing off a few dance moves.

Then we all traveled to the ceremony site. The ceremony was very special as Jenn’s son and daughter walked her down the aisle and they also did a family coming together ritual during the ceremony to include them in the coming together of Jenn and Keith, it was very touching. Their décor at their wedding and reception were so beautiful including the completely handmade origami tree that greeted everyone as they headed into the reception.

After the party ended to sparklers, we took Jenn and Keith back to the Museum of Glass for a fun night shoot that included sparklers. Then of course, we followed them back to the hotel to get them going across the threshold to end the night right. :-)

Please enjoy checking out some of our favorite moments from their wedding day.

Kristine and Steve – Above Par – 8/20/11

Honeymoon: Las Vegas

Kristine and Steve were married on August 20, 2011 at The Gig Harbor Golf Club on an amazingly beautiful summer day. They are golfers so getting married at a golf course was key for them. It was great because the golf club put the ceremony right out on the golf course with the most amazing view of Mount Rainier as the backdrop to the ceremony.

Before the ceremony, while Kristine was getting hair and make-up done, the guys decided they needed some stress release so they went out and did some target practice with their guns. In fact, they felled a tree by shooting it. It is always amazing how much more relaxed the groom is when he does some cool activity in the morning before getting dressed.

Once everyone was ready, we had a sweet first look with Kristine and Steve underneath one of the trees on the golf course, then we had a great time with the wedding party all around the property. We even played on the putting green and had a really good time. Their wedding party was  a little different because they mixed it up with guys and girls. Kristine had a bridesman and Steve had two groomswomen in the wedding. This seems to be a new trend and we think it is really cool to have the people that are closest to you stand up for you no matter if they are guys or gals. After our fun time with the wedding party, we then climbed into golf carts with Kristine and Steve for a romantic pictorial with them around the golf course.

Taking advantage of being on a golf course, a golf cart was also used during the ceremony as Kristine’s dad drove Kristine to the ceremony before walking her down the aisle where they got married with the backdrop of Mount Rainier. Their reception was really fun with Kristine and her maid of honor singing some of their favorite songs while dancing. We ended the night with Kristine and Steve driving off in Steve’s dad’s car, once they got all of the saran wrap off of it, to head to the hotel for going across the threshold shots at the hotel.

We had a great time being a part of their day and hope you enjoy seeing some of our favorite moments from their wedding day!

Janna and Andrew – Summer Farm Wedding – 8/12/11

Officiant: Bride’s brother
Honeymoon: Leavenworth

We met Janna and Andrew through one of our favorite brides, Sarly. Referrals mean so much to us and I know it really helps our brides too since there is a level of built in trust.

Janna and Andrew were married on August 11, 2012 on a very hot and very beautiful summer day at Lord Hill Farms in Snohomish. The venue is really beautiful with lots of gardens, rolling hills and even a giant chessboard. We started the day at a salon in Bothell, before heading to the facility to get dressed and have some fun!

They chose to have a first look so that we could really take advantage of all of the grounds at Lord Hill Farms. It was a really sweet moment and always one of our favorites during a wedding day. We just love to see a bride and groom see each other for the first time! Then we went all around the property with Janna, Andrew and their wedding party and even had a little battle on the chess board. :-)

After all of the fun with the wedding party, it was time to get married! Janna and Andrew chose to get married overlooking the entire Snohomish Valley with the most amazing view. Janna’s brother officiated the ceremony and that always adds such a personal touch to the ceremony.

Their reception was very unique, including their grand entrance. They walked down the big staircase right into their first dance while surrounded by all of their friends and family instead of on the dance floor. It was a very cool way to have their first dance. Of course they did all of the traditional reception activities. But I think the highlight of the night was when Andrew lip sync serenaded Janna with back up from her bridesmaids for a very funny moment. Then they opened the floor to Karaoke, as Janna loves to sing. And before they took off in their getaway car, Janna changed into a second dress and she and Andrew treated everyone to a cute final dance for a perfect end to the fun day.

We were honored to be a part of their wedding day and hope you enjoy seeing some of our favorite moments from their wedding day.

We met Rochelle and Chris when Chris was a groomsman at Jenn and Kyle’s wedding. We love it when a member of the wedding party has so much fun with us that they then want us to be their photographers for their own wedding day. It means so much to us.

Rochelle and Chris had a wonderful church wedding on a beautiful summer day on July 30, 2011. They wanted to have lots of fun on their wedding day so we got a very early start at the salon with the girls and the guys had breakfast at the groom’s parent’s house.

Rochelle had one of our favorite details of the year, a hanger with the word “Bride” on it to hang her dress from. It was really cool and it is awesome when a bride really thinks of every detail, even what her dress will be hanging from for pictures. Also, notice the bright, gorgeous colors for their wedding. It really was a “hot pink” summer wedding! :-)

After the salon the girls came back to the house where Chris was hanging out, so we had a lot of fun keeping Rochelle and Chris apart while we got dressed, as the guys were downstairs and the girls upstairs. Then we did a really sweet first look in the backyard before hopping on a party bus to head to Seattle.

We’ve mentioned it before, but party buses are such a great way to tour around town, especially on a busy summer Seattle day. It really helped out here as we traveled to Seattle from Federal Way and hit up some very popular Seattle locations. And of course being all together on a party bus is always so fun and you can have drinks and snacks along the way! We had a great time with Rochelle, Chris and their wedding party. We went to The Olympic Sculpture Garden and Alki for that awesome Seattle Skyline view. Then we headed back to Federal Way to their church for the ceremony.

The ceremony was beautiful and very heartfelt in their church. Rochelle had both of her parents walk her down the aisle and that is always such a special moment when mom is also included in that part of the day. Their reception was at the Federal Way Community Center and was really fun. They like their desserts and had a chocolate fountain along with their yummy and colorful cupcakes. We ended the evening with a sparkler shot with Rochelle and Chris making a heart with their sparklers.

We were truly honored to photograph Rochelle and Chris’s wedding. We hope you enjoy checking out some of our favorite moments from their wedding day. Please let us know what you think.

Michelle and Andrew – Beautiful Mountain Wedding – 7/23/11

Officiant: Robyn Rice – bride’s father
Honeymoon: Florida and Caribbean Cruise

Michelle and Andrew were married at Andrew’s uncle’s house, a beautiful property nestled in the forest above Leavenworth with an amazing view of the Cascades as a backdrop to their ceremony. It was also one of the hottest days of the year, but with all of the trees it kept some of the heat away for them.

Michelle and Andrew’s wedding has the unique distinction of being the 100th wedding photographed by us at f7 photography. We are so happy that it was their wedding since we actually met Michelle and Andrew at a wedding we photographed in 2008 before they were even officially dating. Although we took pictures of them that day dancing and flirting and knew that someday we might see them again. :-)

Their wedding was truly a family affair.  Not only did they get married at their uncle’s house, but all of the family helped with the details and day of event items like being DJ and food creators. Michelle’s dad actually had two jobs at their wedding; he walked Michelle down the aisle, and then performed the ceremony! It made the ceremony very special and unique for everyone.

Sometimes iPod weddings don’t work, but it worked well at their wedding because they had someone assigned to run the music and DJ/emcee it, so the dance floor was filled for the party, that is definitely the key to success.

One other really fun and unique thing that occurred at their wedding was to pay homage to Michelle’s maiden name which is Rice. They did this at the end of their reception. When they left, they ran through everyone throwing rice at them. What a great way to bring back an old school tradition!

We were truly honored to photograph Michelle and Andrew’s wedding and it was exciting for it to be the 100th time we shot a wedding! We hope you enjoyed checking out some of our favorite moments from their wedding day. Please let us know what you think.

Juliana and Brian – Rockin’ Seattle Wedding – 7/16/11

Makeup Artist: Tiffany at Blackline Beauty

Rings:  Bride – Seattle Diamonds, Groom – Amazon
Invitations: 1-2-3 Print

Caterer: Skansonia
Transportation: British Motor Coach
Entertainment:  Woodrush
Officiant: Bride’s uncle
Honeymoon:  Whitefish, Montana

Juliana and Brian were married at the Skansonia in Seattle, WA. The Skansonia is a unique location for a wedding with a fantastic view of the Seattle Skyline.

Their wedding day had music throughout the day. When we arrived in the hotel suite for hair and make-up, the 80’s rock was blasting on the iPod. Brian is a musician and the entertainment for their wedding was his former band Woodrush. In fact, he picked up a guitar during the reception and played a few songs for the crowd. It was a very fun and unique thing to be a part of at their wedding.

But before all of the fun of the reception, we had a fun time running all around Gasworks Park in Seattle as Juliana and Brian wanted Seattle as their backdrop since that is the view you have from the Skansonia as you get married on their back deck. We had a lot of fun with their wedding party and being in Seattle we even had a brief rainstorm blow through so we had to hide out in the old gasworks pipes. But then the clouds broke and we got a rainbow over the city, it was beautiful!

The Skansonia itself is a very cool and unique venue. It has a very Seattle feeling to it, what other city would have an antique ferry that you can get married on? It has a very vintage feeling to it, so Juliana’s amazing necklace fit right in with the location. At the end of the night, they wanted to continue their Seattle viewpoint tour, so we followed them for some fun night shots at Kerry Park utilizing the cool car provided by British Motor Coach.

We had an absolute blast at their wedding and hope you enjoyed seeing some of what we captured on their wedding day. Please comment away!

f7’s wedding advice – Idea #3 – Always check the tux bag!

Hi Everyone!

This may seem like a “no duh” piece of advice, but you would be shocked at how many weddings we are at where something is missing, broken or wrong with the tuxedo. Common issues are missing or loose buttons (that will come off during the day if loose), wrong sizes, missing shoes, missing pocket squares,  and the one that always gets me, missing socks.

Usually it is a groomsman’s tuxedo vs. the groom. But very recently one of our grooms had the wrong jacket in his bag. Luckily he checked before he left the store and they were able to fix it by his wedding. But so many guys go to the store, pick up the tux and never look inside. Then when it is 15 minutes until it is time to start taking pictures they look in the bag to find (or not find) what should be there.  I really hate to throw someone under the bus, but the biggest culprit out there for this problem is The Men’s Wearhouse. Because they use a national distribution and ship in the orders, you may not be able to get a replacement item on the day of the wedding. There is a lot to be said for working with a local company that has their distribution in the same state as you can usually replace that day if you do forget to check the bag. Our favorite in Washington is The Tux Shop.

This really is probably the most common problem we run into at our weddings, but hopefully you will avoid this by just telling your guys to check the bag when they pick up their tux. We want everyone to be picture perfect!

We hope this little bit of advice helps to ensure that no one has to go naked on your wedding day. :-)

Vanessa and Rav – A Classic Church Wedding – July 2, 2011

Vanessa and Rav were married on July 2, 2011 at their church in Renton and brought their Filipino culture into the ceremony with the rope, veil and coin ceremony. We always enjoy it when we get to experience other cultures in weddings as the symbolism represented is so heartfelt. They held their reception following the ceremony in Renton at what used to be the Spirit of Washington Event Center now renamed the Renton Pavilion Event Center.

We actually met Vanessa and Rav as wedding attendants in Jamie and Sam’s wedding that we photographed last year. Almost a year to the day. We were so honored that they had so much fun in the wedding party that they wanted us to capture their own wedding. It was extra fun for us because we knew a lot of the crew.

Vanessa and Rav wanted to spend most of their wedding day together so the girls started getting ready at 6am and the guys played basketball at the same time. We had our first look at the Hyatt at Olive and 8 in Seattle at 10:30 in the morning and then all boarded a party bus to have a super fun time in the city taking pictures before heading to the Church to get married. We took the crew to the Olympic Sculpture Park and Pioneer Square. They are actually the last group we could take to our favorite alley in the city as construction started there a week later and the cool brick wall and “no parking” driveway are now gone. It was really sad for Jeff and I as we really love the texture and personality of that area, but at least we were able to take Vanessa and Rav there!

We had an amazing time being a part of  their wedding and capturing so many wonderful and fun moments…these are just some of our favs from the day.

Their wedding colors were so bright and cheery. Very summer. Very fun. My favorite detail were the japanese lanterns they hung over the dance floor. They really made the room come alive.

We had a pretty early start time, but it was totally worth it. Even the guys chose to play basketball over sleeping in!

How adorable are these two?  They even have a combined name “RavNess”!!

Vanessa and Rav had 18 people in their wedding party and we had such a blast with all of them running around Seattle. They were all so willing to play around that it just made the day that much more fun for us and Vanessa and Rav.

It really was a wonderfully traditional Catholic and Filipino ceremony with the family involved.

The stage was set right at the beginning that this would be a fun and festive party when the bride and groom entered and did a choreographed dance to “Apache” by the Sugarhill Gang! Of course the song was in my head for the next week after their wedding. :-)

We hope you enjoyed Vanessa and Rav’s wedding as much as we did, please let us know what you think.

Lindsey and Michael were married on June 21, 2011. A Tuesday wedding? Absolutely! They wanted their wedding on the summer solstice which happened to fall on a Tuesday this year. Lindsey and Michael also opted not to have a long engagement, from the date of their engagement to their wedding day was roughly 3 months, because when you know…you know, so why wait. You would think with that short of a planning timeframe that there would be details lacking, but absolutely not. Their wedding was gorgeous and they were surrounded by their family and friends.

Lindsey and Michael were married at Kensington Gardens, which is a beautiful venue for a garden wedding. Since the architecture and grounds had an old classic European castle feel, we used the bridal parties swords, throwing daggers, and knives as props.  All we were missing was a dungeon and a dragon to slay. :-)  The bridesmaids even had daggers hidden under their dresses.  Their ceremony was a truly unique experience. Instead of the traditional line-up of chairs, they had everyone stand around them, encircling them during their ceremony in the garden. It was very intimate and wonderful. They hosted a lunch reception complete with dancing, cake and fun.

After the wedding, everyone headed to Bremerton and got on the ferry to head back to Seattle. We had a blast photographing them on the ferry and then going around Seattle for an after wedding shoot, where we were treated to an absolutely amazing sunset that only Washington can give us! We then followed them back to their hotel so that we could photograph Michael carrying Lindsey over the threshold to end a wonderful wedding day.

We had an amazing time being a part of their classic summer wedding, please enjoy seeing their day through some of our favorite images…

Their details were very elegant and beautiful. A note about their cake…it was made by a family friend using the exact same cake tins used to make Lindsey’s parents cake on their own wedding day. A very cool and personal touch for their wedding.

Watching the transformation into bride and groom is really one of our favorite parts of the day. It was fun to see both Lindsey and Michael’s mom there to help Lindsey as she got dressed.

Lindsey and Michael are such a wonderful couple and so in love. We had a blast photographing them all day and in so many awesome spots. And check out the sunset they had on their wedding day! Amazing!!

Lindsey and Michael had a great entourage of friends. They all really wanted to have fun and play it up for the camera. This was our first time photographing a wedding party on a ferry, it was super fun and a very unique experience!  We went to one of our favorite “urban” spots at Pioneer square and had fun playing with the “Bridesmaids”.  Hopefully you catch that in the photos above.

We really loved the layout for their ceremony having everyone surround them while they got married. We hope we get to experience this again. Oh and did you see the amazing dip during the kiss, that was a surprise move…although knowing that Michael is quite the dancer and dipper as we learned during the engagement session, we should have known he’d do something cool like this!

Their reception was so much fun with all the activities including a little air guitar to Journey. :-)

We hope you enjoyed seeing some of Lindsey and Michael’s wedding day. Please let us know what you think.
